On Final Fantasy XIII, Lightning uses a variation of the standard Guardian Corps uniform. The green metallic pauldron on her left shoulder, with yellow stripes, denotes her previous rank as a sergeant.
She carries her gunblade in a black scabbard that hangs from her belt and wears a collar with a lightning pendant. Her l'Cie mark is located slightly above her left breast.
Lightning also has a belly button piercing, although it is difficult to see.
On Final Fantasy XIII-2, Lightning uses a black coat and a silver and gold armor similar to that of a Valkyrie, along with a shield on her left arm (although in her CG she appears with it on her right arm). She also wields a new gunblade, more similar to a traditional sword, which has the inscription of Etro. In this phase, she no longer has the belly button piercing.
During Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Lightning utilizes a large number of outfits. Her default outfit, Equilibrium, is similar to what she wore in Final Fantasy XIII-2. The Night Lotus shield on her left arm and the Crimson Blitz sword in her right hand, similar to Noel's Flame Fossil, are a tribute to her Eidolon, Odin.
The game's logo symbol appears multiple times on her equipment, being present on her chest, sword, and shield.
